Mike Reed was born in Alexandria Louisiana on Thursday, January 27, 1972.  Growing up in a law enforcement family, Chief Reed began his own Law enforcement career with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office in February of 1991 where he went to work in the Jail as a clerk.  He was quickly promoted to detention officer where he worked until completing the Basic Peace Officer Academy at the Permian Basin Regional Law Enforcement Academy.  In 1995 Chief Reed was selected and transferred to the Patrol Division of the Midland County Sheriff’s Office.  During his time with the MCSO, Chief Reed gained experience in several areas including Criminal Investigation, Crime Stoppers Sergeant, and Narcotics. He also served as a member of the Midland County Sheriff’s Office SWAT from 1993-2008.

Chief Mike Reed’s tenure with the LSO began as Sergeant over the Office of Professional and Ethical Standards, which oversees background investigations, hiring boards for prospective new detention staff, Policy and Procedural updates, training and internal affairs.  He was then promoted to the position of Captain of Special Operations, directing Criminal Investigations, Communications, Narcotics, Tactical Operations Team, and Emergency Management.  He is now Chief Deputy over Law Enforcement, which oversees all law enforcement functions and duties.

Chief Reed graduated from Midland Senior High School in 1990 and Midland Junior College in 1992. He is married and has two children.
