Johnny Jaquess was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1975. He began his Law Enforcement career with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office in 1997 and has worked his way through the ranks to his current position as the evening Watch Commander in the Lubbock County Detention Center. During his employment with the Sheriff’s Office, he also served as a Commissioned Officer with the Army National Guard. In addition to his regular duty assignment, he is an academic and firearms instructor and serves as the Honor Guard Commander.
Johnny Jaquess attended high school at Muleshoe High School prior to entering the military. In 2000, he attended the Peace Officer Academy at South Plains Association of Governments. In 2004, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Human Services. He holds Master Jail, Master Peace Officer, and Mental Health Peace Officer licenses and is a Certified Jail Manager by the American Jail Association. In October of 2009, he graduated from the National Jail Leadership Command Academy. He has two children, Chris and Dusty.

|1989-Present||Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office: Currently assigned as the evening Watch Commander for the Detention Center, he began his career as a detention officer. He has been a member of the Detention Response Team and is currently the Honor Guard Commander. As a Watch Commander, he is responsible for a shift of up to 105 Detention personnel, including both sworn officers and civilian staff members, and the safe operation of the facility during his watch.
